Asus Claims the Performance of the ROG Ally Handheld Console

DaBestDay.com – Asus Indonesia claims that the performance of its newest portable (handheld) gaming console, namely the ROG Ally, is close to one of the newest game consoles today, namely the PlayStation 5 (PS5).

This was conveyed by Technical Public Relations of Asus Indonesia, Riandanu Utomo, at the introductory event for ROG Ally in Indonesia which was held at the Alila SCBD Hotel, South Jakarta, Thursday (22/6/2023) yesterday.

It’s almost on par with PS5 because the handheld console  that supports the Windows 11 operating system (OS), especially the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme model, has a graphic computing power of up to 8.6 Teraflops (TFLOPs).

Meanwhile, PS5 has a graphical capability of up to 10.3 TFLOPs, 1.7 TFLOPs lower than ROG Ally.

“So, in terms of capabilities, ROG Ally has graphics computing around 85 percent of PS5,” claims the man who is familiarly called Danu to DaBestDay.

Naturally, the performance of a handheld gaming console that supports the Windows 11 operating system (OS) is said to be almost on par with the PS5.

This is because the PS5 is equipped with an AMD RDNA 2 graphics processor (GPU) which has 36 compute units (CU) with each CU speed of up to 2.23 GHz.

On the other hand, ROG Ally uses the latest generation of AMD GPUs, namely RDNA 3 which is arguably more capable than RDNA 2. It’s just that the number of CUs in ROG Ally is less with 12 units, but the speed increases up to 2.7 GHz.

Apart from boasting that the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme has nearly the same performance as the PS5, Danu also compared the performance of the handheld gaming console with other handheld game consoles.

“ROG Ally Z1 Extreme is far more capable than ROG Ally Z1 (2.8 TFLOPs), Steam Deck (1.6 TFLOPs), and Nintendo Switch (0.39 TFLOPs),” said Danu.

Besides being similar to the PS5, Danu also claims that the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme sets a new standard for playing games at 1080p on handheld gaming console devices.
